Manchester United 5-0 Wigan Atletic

Wayne Rooney delivered another masterclass as Wigan Athletic surrendered to Manchester United for the second time this season.

Sir Alex Ferguson has argued for years that if his side are within touching distance of top spot on New Year's Day they will take some stopping.

And not only are they only two points adrift of Chelsea, they have almost achieved parity in the goal difference column too after another five-goal mauling of the hapless Latics.

Former Wigan star Antonio Valencia had a productive night, claiming three assists and scoring the final goal of the match against his old club.

But Rooney was the main man, opening United's account with his 15th goal of the season and getting himself right to the heart of a performance Wigan could not have complained about if it had brought the hosts double figures.

Hammered by five goals on home soil in August, Roberto Martinez made the short journey across Greater Manchester for the return, committed to the same open style.

The wonder was it took United almost half an hour to open their account.

best season
A flurry just beforehand had involved Chris Kirkland turning a Rooney blockbuster wide and Paul Scharner booting a Nemanja Vidic effort of the line.

Following that, Rooney's audacious shot from the most acute angle imaginable bounced back to Kirkland off the far post, the Wigan keeper having been completely bamboozled by the initial effort.

Finally, Dimitar Berbatov, who had started the bombardment by racing onto Rooney's through ball and getting chopped down in the box by Titus Bramble without winning a penalty, failed with a chip when he was clean through.

At that stage, there might have been a temptation for Wigan to think they would survive..

It will not cross Ferguson's attention that much but an entire nation of football watchers is following his main man at the moment, crossing their fingers he can deliver World Cup glory to England.

Undoubtedly he is having his best season and it was the former Everton striker who stole in at the near post to meet Rafael Da Silva's cross and steer it past Kirkland to break the deadlock.

Three minutes later Michael Carrick swept home the second after Valencia had shown enough vision to cut a pass back into his path rather than drill a cross into crowded penalty area.

powerful force
On nights like these, the former Wigan man is a powerful force. And with Rafael charging forward on the overlap, the Latics could not resist.

Rafael's only previous goal came in a disappointing defeat at Arsenal last year.
This time, after collecting Darren Fletcher's pass and showing nimble feet to create space for himself on the edge of the area before drilling past Kirkland, he had more of a reason to celebrate with twin Fabio, who pumped the air with joy from the bench, although he was ultimately to share a pitch with his brother for the first time in a league match.

A change of keeper at the break as Mike Pollitt replaced the luckless Kirkland, failed to bring a change of fortune for the visitors.

Valencia skipped past Maynor Figueroa as if he was not there, then crossed into space. Berbatov controlled instantly and turned his shot into the far corner.

Memories of that nine-goal humiliation at Tottenham Hotsput were coming back to haunt Martinez and his men.

If Rooney had managed to find the net when he got on the end of Berbatov's chip instead of thundering a header against the bar, a repeat may have been on the cards.

Instead, United were forced to wait until the 76th minute, after Ferguson had made a triple substitution, for Rooney to drive into the heart of Wigan's defence before sending Valencia through superbly to chip home a fifth.

Hull City 1-3 Manchester United

Wayne Rooney rescued Manchester United after almost playing the Barclays Premier League champions into trouble at struggling Hull City.

Rooney gave United the lead in first-half stoppage time at the KC Stadium but then gifted the home side a route back with the mistake that led to Craig Fagan's penalty equaliser.

The England striker then stepped up a gear to force an own goal from Andy Dawson and then set up a third for strike partner Dimitar Berbatov.

The hard-fought victory lifted United back above Arsenal into second and within two points of leaders Chelsea.

United welcomed back a trio of defenders in Rafael da Silva, Wes Brown and Nemanja Vidic. That gave United a much more familiar look as Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick returned to midfield roles.

United started patiently but burst into life after five minutes as Antonio Valencia charged down the right.

The Ecuador international picked out Giggs with a well-flighted cross but the Welshman's volley dipped just over Boaz Myhill's bar.

Giggs was then inches away from scoring from a 16th-minute free-kick after Rooney went down under a Kamil Zayatte challenge.

brilliant move
Hull weathered that storm and appealed for a penalty after making a rare break but Brown's challenge as Richard Garcia raced onto a Fagan ball was deemed fair.

Seyi Olofinjana tried his luck from long range for Hull but Tomasz Kuszczak was not troubled.

Rooney went close again for United as Hull waited in vain for an offside flag, forcing Myhill to palm over with a stinging shot.

Hull were unlucky not to take the lead after piecing together a brilliant move in the 28th minute.

Garcia began the attack with a weaving run before finding Fagan out wide. Fagan's perfect cross was met on the volley by Olofinjana on the six-yard line but Kuszczak saved to his right.

Hull survived a real scare when Myhill sliced a clearance but Giggs and Rooney were unable to take advantage of an unexpected opening.

The Tigers spurned another good opportunity as Olofinjana found Stephen Hunt on the left but the Irishman shot tamely across goal.

Rafael then beat the offside trap at the end of an intricate move on the edge of the Hull box but Myhill saved brilliantly from the Brazilian.

Pressure finally paid off as Hull failed to clear a Fletcher cross and Rooney tapped in from close range during two minutes of stoppage time.

bundled over
United were relieved but Rooney turned villain with a bad error just before the hour.

Rooney played Kuszczak into trouble with a weak backpass and Fagan nipped in to win the ball.

Fagan's touch took it too wide to shoot but he turned and lofted in a cross for Jozy Altidore, who was bundled over by the backtracking Rafael.

Wiley pointed to the spot and Fagan, taking over spot-kicking duties, stepped up to coolly slot an equaliser.

United almost reclaimed the lead moments later as Brown rose to meet a corner but Myhill clawed the ball away from under his bar as Rooney threatened.

Hull went close from their own corner as Garcia met a Hunt cross but his header flashed across goal.

Rooney then redeemed himself by forcing the own goal that put United back in front after 73 minutes.

Hull were caught as United broke from deep and Giggs put Rooney through. The angle was a tight one but Hull could not get back quickly enough and Rooney's cross was turned in by Dawson.

There was no way back for Hull and Berbatov finished the job eight minutes from time, although he owed much to Rooney.

The England man was allowed to stroll into the area from halfway as Hull reacted slowly to a long Vidic header and then picked out Berbatov at the far post with a measured ball. The Bulgarian had a simple task to slide home.

Paranormal Activity

Be afraid. Be very afraid. Especially if you sleep alone.

After a young, middle class couple moves into what seems like a typical suburban “starter” tract house, they become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be demonic but is certainly most active in the middle of the night.

Especially when they sleep. Or try to.

Melayu Hari Ini?

Terkinja-kinja best giler menari macam hantu

Apa hobi orang Melayu
Terkenal dengan budaya malas dan lesu
Berlepak buang masa tak jemu-jemu
Tengok telenovela dari Filipina dan Peru
Berpusu-pusu pergi tengok pamiran hantu
Sambil makan junk food, kuaci dan muruku
Sibuk bercerita tentang Datuk K dapat bini baru
Apa pakaian Siti nak pakai itu pun nak tahu
Mana tak gendut berpenyakit selalu
Kalau nak berlagak Melayu masih nombor satu

Kenapa Melayu jadi begitu?
Nak salahkan siapa ibubapa atau guru
Pemimpin negara atau raja dulu-dulu

Wahai sahabat-sahabatku,
Renung-renungkanlah kata-kataku ini.

Fulham 3-0 Manchester United

Manchester United's pursuit of the Barclays Premier League title suffered a setback with a thrashing at Craven Cottage inspired by Bobby Zamora.

Danny Murphy opened the scoring from 30-yards after capitalising on an error by Paul Scholes and Zamora continued his rich vein of form with the second a minute after the interval.

It was Zamora's fifth goal in four matches and he heard his name chanted as he left the pitch to a standing ovation.

The former West Ham United marksman - a menace all afternoon - had helped complete the rout of the champions by setting-up the third for Damien Duff in the 76th minute.

Just as worrying for United side as their second Barclays Premier League defeat in three matches was the knowledge they were overwhelmed in every department.

Lacking in imagination and confidence, their crippling injury list has clearly caught up with them as they missed the chance to draw level with Chelsea at the top of the table and suffered a fifth loss of the season.

Nemanja Vidic's failure to recover from a calf strain forced Sir Alex Ferguson to once again field a makeshift defence, which was repeatedly exposed by Fulham.

With Jonny Evans, John O'Shea, Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand and Wes Brown in the treatment room, Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher and Ritchie De Laet were asked to form a flimsy three-man rearguard.

wonderful move
Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen started in attack but the latter was anonymous and even when Dimitar Berbatov stepped off the bench in the second half they were toothless.

The result has strengthened Fulham's reputation as the scourge of the big four - earnt last season - and registered their second successive victory against United.

In March they beat Sir Alex Ferguson's side for the first time in 45 years by the same scoreline but this triumph was more comprehensive in every aspect.

As early as the 17th minute Fulham looked capable of emulating last season's heroics against the Red Devils thanks to a wonderful move started by Clint Dempsey.

The American floated in a long pass to Zamora who expertly chested the ball down into the path of Zoltan Gera but the Hungarian directed his shot too close to goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak when he had the goal at his mercy.

Duff should have produced a better conclusion to one run into the box but Fulham only had to wait until the 22nd minute to storm into the lead when they capitalised on an error by Scholes.

Fletcher passed to Scholes but the former England midfielder was too slow in reacting, allowing Murphy to snatch the ball from his feet and fire a 30-yard effort into the net.

Zamora should have made it 2-0 but nodded Gera's precision cross wide from six yards out after doing the hard work in outjumping Fletcher.

far post
Quick thinking from Evra and Rooney created a half-chance for Anderson but Fulham reacted so rapidly to the threat that by the time he pulled the trigger he was blocked by a wall of white shirts.

United's problems deepened a minute into the second half when their patched-up defence was unpicked once more as Fulham extended their lead.

Duff supplied the cross to the far post where Dempsey was able to deflect the ball into the path of Zamora who rifled home from close range.

In desperate need of inspiration, a lacklustre United brought on Berbatov for Gibson and switched to a three-pronged strike force.

Needing a third goal to kill-off United, who were showing tentative signs of a fightback, Duff obliged in the 75th minute.

The visitors failed to clear their lines, allowing the brilliant Zamora to set-up Duff who smashed the ball home from 15 yards out.

Delirious Fulham fans chanted "we want four, we want four" and Zamora would have given it to them had Kuszczak not made a superb late save.

Manchester United 3-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Manchester United beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 thanks to goals from Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Vidic and Antonio Valencia.

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy made 10 changes from the side that defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 last weekend and Wolves paid the price at Old Trafford.

For half an hour the hardy band of travelling fans had plenty to cheer as their representatives gave everything in the Wolverhampton cause.

If Rooney had taken the third-minute opening that presented itself when Darron Gibson's shot crashed into him, the defeat could have been far worse for Wolves.

low cross
Instead, Marcus Hahnemann, the one player to keep his place from White Hart Lane, made a close-range save, as he did to deny the England striker when he got on the end of Patrice Evra's low cross midway through the half.

United won a penalty when Ronald Zubar rose to head away Gibson's corner under minimal pressure and instead punched it out of the area.

Having been so lethargic before, Rooney upped the pace by drilling home his 13th goal of the season from the penalty spot.

Once in front, there was never any real suggestion United would not join Chelsea at the Barclays Premier League summit, having failed in that objective against Aston Villa at the weekend.

enough power
On his first league start, Gabriel Obertan was guilty of taking too much time to get his crosses in, a failing that Cristiano Ronaldo received a few admonishments for earlier in his career.

If the young French winger needed any proof the direct route was best, he got it when Vidic rose highest at a Gibson corner and got enough power into his header to carry it over the line, even though Hahnemann attempted a goal-line block.

The effort secured victory and the hosts knew it, which probably explained the sense of lethargy that gripped them at the start of the second period.

Vidic's departure was the most notable aspect of that period. The defender did raise his hands to say he was willing to continue after originally indicating a desire to come off and Sir Alex Ferguson will be hopeful of having him fit for Saturday's testing trip to Fulham.

It did not matter on this occasion, though, and the scene was set for a brilliant piece of skill from Dimitar Berbatov.

The Bulgarian first collected Paul Scholes' lofted pass before delivering a brilliant overhead kick into the path of Valencia, who drove a first-time shot into the roof of the net.

Manchester United 0-1 Aston Villa

Manchester United failed to produce any late heroics this time as Gabriel Agbonlahor's first-half goal earned Aston Villa their first Old Trafford win since 1983.

Sir Alex Ferguson described Federico Macheda's sensational injury-time effort in the corresponding fixture last term as the defining moment of United's season.

It is too early for Agbonlahor's header to be described in the same way, but on a day when United were in action after Chelsea had stumbled unexpectedly on home soil, it was a poor result for the hosts.

Although Villa headed north without a win for so long, they did have the confidence of victories against both Chelsea and Liverpool this season to fall back on.

And while Villa themselves might not have enjoyed the best of times against United of late, Agbonlahor has not done too badly.

The England striker had scored in the past three seasons against the Red Devils, so he was completing a rather impressive four-timer when he nodded home Ashley Young's right-wing cross.

inspired pass
Agbonlahor had already shown impressive strength to hold off Wes Brown, then spotted his opportunity after rolling a pass to Young, darting into the space where he expected the cross to come.

The cross duly came and, with Kuszczak in no man's land, Agbonlahor steered his header into the net.

It could quite easily have been two by half-time as Agbonlahor harried Darren Fletcher off the ball after the Scot had received a pass he was not expecting from Kuszczak.

Instead of going for goal himself he unselfishly tried to present Emile Heskey with a tap-in. This time Kuszczak redeemed himself.

United were not exactly a muted force, it was just that their efforts tended to be half-chances rather than clear opportunities.

Antonio Valencia was a threat but was caught on his heels when Wayne Rooney flicked an inspired pass to the near post.

low cross
And it was Rooney who saw his shot crash off the bar after a brilliant piece of close control when he received Patrice Evra's low cross.

United's efforts were underwhelming enough for Ferguson to introduce Michael Owen at the break.

Like Ryan Giggs, it was a rare off-day for Rooney, who failed to take a couple of those half-chances that kept coming United's way.

If that was not bad enough, after flattening Downing, Rooney raced at the Villa goal then overhit a through-ball intended for Dimitar Berbatov.

Not that the Bulgarian had anyone to blame but himself when Michael Carrick charged forward on the overlap and invited the finish with a precise cut-back.

It looked certain to be the equaliser, but Berbatov failed to make a proper connection.

Downing was perfectly placed to boot a Vidic header off the line with 10 minutes remaining as the match entered the phase where last year Villa's victory hopes were so cruelly snatched away from them.
